Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Starry (“Starry,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Starry iOS app and the website at starry-app.com (together, the “Services”).

Starry is built for iOS developers to monitor publicly available App Store customer reviews. We aim to collect only what is needed to provide and improve the Services.

1. Who we are

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

• Newsletter email. If you subscribe on starry-app.com, we store the email address you submit and when you subscribed.
• Support messages. If you email us, we receive the content of your message and your email address so we can respond.
• In-app notes and saved reviews. Notes and saved-review preferences you create in the app are stored with your Apple account via iCloud / CloudKit so they can sync across your devices.

2.2 App usage data

• Tracked apps and countries. The apps and App Store regions you choose to monitor are stored on your device and, when iCloud sync is available, in your personal iCloud container.
• Purchase status. Subscription status for Starry Pro is managed through Apple’s App Store and RevenueCat so we can unlock Pro features.
• Analytics events. We use Firebase Analytics / Google Analytics to understand feature usage (for example, adding an app or completing a purchase). These events may include device and app identifiers and usage metrics. We do not sell personal information.

2.3 Public App Store content

Starry fetches publicly available App Store review content (such as review text, ratings, author display names, versions, and storefront) to show it in the app. That content is published by Apple and by App Store users; Starry does not require your App Store Connect credentials to display reviews.

2.4 On-device processing

• Translation. Review translation uses Apple’s on-device Translation APIs when available.
• Sentiment analysis. Sentiment classification uses Apple on-device language models when available. Review text processed for sentiment is intended to stay on your device for that feature.

2.5 Automatically collected website data

When you visit starry-app.com, we may collect standard analytics data via Google Analytics 4 (for example, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, device/browser type, and referral source), including events such as App Store download clicks and newsletter signups.

3. How we use information

• Provide, operate, and improve the Starry app and website
• Sync your saved reviews, notes, and preferences across your devices via iCloud
• Process Starry Pro subscriptions and restore purchases
• Send newsletter updates you opted into
• Respond to support requests
• Understand product usage and fix issues
• Comply with legal obligations

4. How we share information

We share information only as needed to run the Services:

• Apple. App Store purchases, iCloud / CloudKit sync, and on-device system frameworks.
• RevenueCat. Subscription entitlement management.
• Google Firebase / Google Analytics. Analytics for the app and website; newsletter emails are stored in Firebase Firestore.
• Legal / safety. If required by law or to protect rights and security.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Data retention

• In-app data synced with iCloud remains until you delete it or remove it from your Apple account / iCloud storage.
• Newsletter emails are kept until you ask us to remove them or we discontinue the list.
• Analytics data is retained according to our analytics providers’ settings and our operational needs.
• Support emails are retained as long as needed to resolve your request and for reasonable business records.

6. Your choices

• You can stop using Starry and delete the app at any time.
• You can manage iCloud data for Starry in your Apple ID / iCloud settings.
• You can cancel Starry Pro in your Apple ID subscription settings.
• You can unsubscribe from the newsletter by contacting us at the email below.
• You can limit analytics via iOS privacy settings (such as App Tracking controls, where applicable) and browser controls on the website.

To request deletion of newsletter or support data we control, email starry.app.support@gmail.com.

7. Children

Starry is intended for developers and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. International users

The Services may be operated from locations other than where you live. By using Starry, you understand that information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.

9. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Services after changes means you accept the updated policy.
